Acoustic Guitar Summit: Stowell, Vandivier, Razavi, and Meade

For this one-time performance, guitarists John Stowell, Rick Vandivier, and Mason Razavi are joined by New York-based percussionist Dave Meade to explore the acoustic potential of contemporary jazz. The unusual instrumentation will make for a fun set of exploration and deep listening. The guitarists are each known for their lyricism, thoughtful improvisation, and penchant for intuitive interaction.

John Stowell:

John Stowell is an internationally touring artist who has performed or recorded with long list of jazz greats, including Milt Jackson, Lionel Hampton, Art Farmer, Conte Condoli, Herb Ellis, Bill Watrous, Mundell Lowe, George Cables, Billy Higgins, Billy Hart, Richie Cole, Paul Horn, Tom Harrrell, Don Thompson, Dave Liebman.

Rick Vandivier:

Rick Vandivier has been performing and recording in the San Francisco Bay Area for the last 35 years. His performance career has brought him to the North Sea Jazz Festival in Holland, the Berlin Jazz Festival, Monterey Jazz Festival, the San Francisco Jazz Festival, Summerfest in Boston, and the San Jose Jazz Summer Fest.

Mason Razavi:

Mason Razavi is a jazz guitarist with a growing profile in the SF Bay Area and beyond. Based in San Jose, CA, Razavi’s groups have performed at the SFJAZZ Center, the Bach Dancing and Dynamite Society, San Jose Jazz Summer Fest, and at several Bay Area jazz clubs and concert series. His albums have often featured ambitious original music that has been warmly received by jazz radio worldwide.

David Meade:

David Meade is a NYC-based drummer and percussionist. He has performed around the world as a Jazz Ambassador for the State Department, and with such notable artists as as Aretha Franklin, Bobby McFerrin, Wayne Shorter, Diahann Carroll, and Larry Coryell.
